The table has 3 pieces that need art. The main playfield, mini playfield, and cabinet/backbox.
I haven’t done much on this yet. I blocked out the art’s outline (art sections vs wood sections), and began to lightly sketch some ideas down.
These are some mockups I did just to get some ideas down on paper. I’m sure things will change in the final design. The playfield sketch has 7 visible fairies, and 2 not visible (at the top near the rollover bank)… making that many unique and detailed fairies won’t be trivial! But it sure will look nice when it’s finished
I dabbled around with screen printing a bit. Once the art is completely finished I’ll have another go at this. I only tried to print the mask layer, and, in my opinion, it didn’t turn out to badly for a first try
Below you can see how the mini table’s art has progressed. Initially I was thinking it would only involve a scene with a small pond and waterfall, but as I drew that it became apparent that the lower third of the art was very bland. I then decided to try to make it a little bit more surreal. The pond, which once was a real location, became a magical land created by a fairy. I think the new art design fits the theme much better then the initial design did.
